How SMS gets set up.
In Egypt an SMS only shows your brand name if that name is registered with the networks first. You send us three things, and we handle the registration.

Sender ID rules in Egypt.
A sender ID (اسم المرسل) is the name a customer sees instead of a phone number. These are the rules Egyptian networks apply, as providers publish them.
- Every sender name is registered in advance on each network: Vodafone, Orange, Etisalat and Telecom Egypt (WE).[2]
- You need a commercial registration, a tax card and a delegation (or no-objection) letter on company letterhead, signed and stamped by the company that owns the name.[2, 3, 4]
- The name is 3 to 11 Latin letters and numbers, with no special characters. Arabic-script names are not accepted.[4, 3, 5]
- Generic names are refused, and so is any name containing the word “SMS”.[3]
- The name should be your company or brand. If the link is not obvious, expect to show you own the brand.[4]
- Expect to explain how customers agreed to hear from you. Send offers only to people who opted in, and honour opt-outs.[4]
Egypt’s telecom regulator is the NTRA. We found no public NTRA document that sets out sender name rules, so the list above is what the networks ask for through providers, checked on 21 October 2026.

Odoo connects through Nitro, which sends eight order and customer events to Nonito. Nonito reads those events; it does not write back to Odoo.

For anything your store doesn’t send as an event, POST /sms_send sends one SMS to one number with your API key. SMS has to be set up on your account first.

An English SMS holds 160 characters. Arabic needs Unicode, so one SMS holds 70, and a longer message splits into parts of 67. Every part is billed as one SMS.
