How Meta charges
- You pay for each template message that's delivered. The price depends on the template's category and the country code of the number you send to.
- Marketing is the most expensive category. Utility and authentication cost less and get cheaper with volume. Service messages are free-form replies inside the 24-hour window; the first 1,000 a month per number are free.
- Messages customers send you cost nothing, and neither do undelivered messages. Replies to a customer who came from a Click to WhatsApp ad are free for up to 7 days.
- Since October 1, 2026, Meta charges for service messages after the free 1,000, and for utility templates sent inside the 24-hour window. Kuwait, Oman, Iraq and Morocco also got their own rates.

Questions
How is WhatsApp Business API pricing calculated?
- Per delivered template message. Meta sets a price for each category (marketing, utility, authentication, service) in each market, and the market is decided by the recipient's country calling code.
Which countries share a regional rate?
- Countries without their own row are billed at a regional rate. In the Arab world, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon and Yemen are billed as Rest of Middle East, and Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan and Mauritania as Rest of Africa.
How often does Meta change WhatsApp rates?
- Meta can change rates at the start of each quarter and announces changes about a month ahead. The current rates took effect on October 1, 2026.
